Details on the Blower Motor & Heating Elements

Below, you'll find information on what a blower motor and heating elements add to the jerky-making process. I'm sure you'll agree that they're not something you want to do without!

Blower Motor

Having a blower motor on your dehydrator is a great idea because the blower maximizes air circulation inside the dehydrator. That means:

1. It accelerates the dehydrating process by 12 hours on average when combined with a heating element. (From 16-24 hours for a dehydrator without blower down to 4-10 hours.)

2. The blower maximizes air circulation and that minimizes the amount of tray rotations you have to do during the dehydrating process. That's because as the jerky cures, the bottom tray (being closer to the blower/heater) will finish before top tray and will need to be either rotated or removed.

Heating Element

The importance of a heating element goes way beyond convenience. In order to keep your jerky at the right temperature, it's essential!

1. It accelerates the dehydrating process by 12 hours on average when combined with a blower motor. (From 16-24 hours for a dehydrator without heating element down to 4-10 hours.)

2. It is critical in maintaining a minimum temperature of 150 degrees to prevent wonderful virus and bacteria that I can't even begin to spell, let alone pronounce, from forming.
